75% City Metro Rail works completed: KTR

IT & Industries Minister today said the first phase of Metro Rail will begin soon as 75 per cent of works are completed. The rest of the works are going on fast pace and the first will be launched as per plan, he said.

Responding to queries of the Opposition members on the city development during short discussion in the Assembly, the minister said the government was committed to complete the project at the earliest. He said Rs 115.46 crore was being spent for drainage, roads and infrastructure in IT Corridor. KTR criticized the Opposition for its comments on illegal structures and stated that Building Tribunal has been set up to address the issue of illegal structures on nalas. So far 938 illegal structures and those dilapidated buildings were demolished he said.

Effluents diversion works are on at Hussain Sagar and a plan is cards to set up water treatment centers along the stretch of Musi River. Claiming that a new plastic road laid at Uppal area is successful with positive results, he said that to check traffic problems 113 junctions are being developed and controlling traffic and pollution using NRDP. The Government is committed on double bedroom scheme and tenders have already been called, he claimed. Outer Ring Road works completed connecting Pedda Amberpet with Keesara, bringing five multiple projects under one master plan, increased GHMC circles from 18 to 30. (NSS)
