A strong earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter Scale hit Northeast Japan on Friday evening. While there is no threat of a widespread Tsunami, residents of some areas have been asked to evacuate.
The epicentre of the quake was about 300km (183 miles) from Kamiashi – off the East Coast of Honshu – at a depth of about 33km, the US Geological Survey said.
As per latest reports, no destructive pacific-wide Tsunami is expected. However, resident of Miyagi Prefecture, that was devastated by the 2011 Tsunami have been asked to move to higher ground.
