70,000 devotees have darshan

Vijayawada, October 11: Indrakeeladri, the abode of Goddess Kanakadurga, witnessed a heavy devotee rush today. Speaking to Express, Kanakadurga temple executive officer N Vijay Kumar said 70,000 devotees had darshan on the first day of Devi Navaratri festival. On the second day, the number of devotees visited the temple came down to 40,000. About 70,000 devotees had darshan of the Goddess till 6 pm on Sunday. The number is likely to cross one lakh by midnight. The sale of Laddu and Pulihora prasadam also increased.

The hundi collection and donations from devotees also rose. Srushti Software Solutions donated Rs 9 lakh on the first day. Health Hospitals presented gold Padukalu weighing 1.5 kg to the Goddess on the second day.

A devotee from Nandyal donated 2 kg gold to the temple. Film producer Ashwini Dutt donated Rs 2.5 lakh in the name of his family members to the Goddess today, the EO said.
