Hyderabad, March 21: Keeping in mind the urgent requirement for staff nurses in government hospitals, the state government has sanctioned 700 regular posts of staff nurses in several government hospitals across the state.
Based on their eligibility, about 691 candidates who earlier got selected for contract posts will be now recruited into regular posts. In this context, officials have cancelled the counselling for contract posts scheduled on March 21.
In December 2010, the government conducted written tests for filling up of 2,475 nurse posts lying vacant in various hospitals. Of these, 1,784 are regular posts and 691 are contract posts sanctioned under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) programme. Recently, the government prepared a merit list and the counselling for both types of posts is in progress.
With the Director of Medical Education sanctioning 700 regular posts this week, officials have decided to fill up regular jobs first with the merit list available.
In addition to these posts, the government will fill another 1,200 contract posts of nurses shortly.
“A committee comprising senior officials of the Health and Medical department has been constituted to identify the vacancies available.
Soon after completion of this exercise, the government will fill about 1,200 contract posts of nurses,” said a senior official of the Health and Medical department.
Meanwhile, the counselling for recruitment of doctors will be conducted at the Directorate of Health on March 21 as per schedule. The government is filling up about 900 doctor posts in different hospitals in the state.
About 350 candidates got selected for the counselling after clearing a written test and interview recently.
