7 SUV’s stolen from Hyundai yard in Chennai

Chennai: A seven-member gang in early hours of Wednesday entered the Hyundai’s automobile parking yard where 65 vehicles were parked. Seven brand new SUVs were stolen by this gang after attacking a security guard, but five of the vehicles were traced within hours, police said.

Seven men barged into a parking facility in Manapakkam here maintained by a Hyundai dealer and picked up a quarrel with the security guard. They then attacked him and drove away seven sports utility vehicles in quick succession.

Soon after, the guard, Manoharan lodged a complaint with police who managed to trace the cars in Valasaravakkam locality here.

The images of the seven men were captured by a CCTV camera when they abandoned five vehicles and escaped in two other vehicles.

A special team has been formed to apprehend the thieves, police said, adding fake registration numbers were fitted on the vehicles after they were stolen.
