7 soldiers killed, 4 injured in Egypt

At least seven Egyptian soldiers were killed and four others injured in a roadside bomb explosion today in the restive north Sinai province.

The bomb targeted two armoured vehicles killing at least seven soldiers and left four others in a serious condition,
security officials said.

North Sinai has witnessed many violent attacks by militants since the January 2011 revolution that toppled the
ex-president Hosni Mubarak.

Islamists militant attacks targeting police and military increased after the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohamed
Morsi last year.

Many policemen and soldiers, have been killed in the attacks, which including bombings and shootings.

The military has launched security campaigns in the area, arrested suspects and demolished houses that belong to
terrorists, including those facilitating tunnels leading to the Gaza Strip.
