Jaipur, March 26: Seven members of a family, including a five-year-old boy and four girls, were killed in an apparent suicide pact in a place 35 km from Jaipur. Bansi Lal Jat (40) allegedly poisoned his son Babu (5) and daughter Babli (15) on Wednesday night and later jumped before a moving train with his wife Sita (36) and three daughters, Shravani (13), Kali (7), and Hansa (8).
Their bodies were found on Thursday morning. Jat and his daughters died on the spot while his wife died on the way to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.
The police are puzzled as no member of the family has survived to tell the tale. Jat had a small plot of land in the Harmara area near Jaipur and the family did not lead a hand-to-mouth existence.
So, poverty as a cause has been ruled out by the police. “There are reports of familial conflict between Bansi Lal Jat and his brothers.
But the exact cause behind the incident is still not clear,” said Jaipur North SP Ashok Naruka.
