7 devotees killed in road mishap

Keonjhar (Orissa), January 10: Seven devotees were today killed and six others seriously injured in a jeep-truck collision in the district, police said.

The pilgrims were on their way to ‘Maa Tarini’ Kali temple at Ghatagaon from Balasore district when their jeep collided with the iron ore-laden truck at Balijodo, about 55 km from here.

Gitanjali Sahu (48), her son Deepak Sahu (22), Gitanjali (28), Pinki (14), Nini, Kanak Sethi and driver of the jeep Babaji Parida (35) died on the spot, they said.

Police said Annapurna, Amrita, Dipu, Madhusmita, Gaganbehary and Kabula were shifted to S C B Medical College Hospital at Cuttack and their condition was stated to be serious.
