7 bombs found along Assam-Meghalaya border

Shillong, August 14: Ahead of Independence Day, police today recovered seven powerful bombs from a forest along the Assam-Meghalaya border suspected to have been kept by ULFA militants for disrupting Independence Day celebrations in Guwahati in Assam.

An Assam police official told PTI that the bombs were found deep inside a forest in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district.

Some detonators were also found along with the bombs.

Police suspect the bombs were kept there by ULFA militants who had brought them for carrying out explosions during Independence Day celebrations.

Police also suspect that the militants had fled the area before the operation.
