7 arrested on charges of gang rape

The police arrested seven persons on the charges of raping a 30 –year-old woman in Qutub ullapur under Jeedimetla police station limits. One of the accused remains at large.

According to police, the victim a divorcee and resident of Girinagar, IDPL colony went to toddy shop in Chintal on the evening of November 13. Two men who were present there made her to drink toddy and asked her to have sex (for Rs 1000). But she left the shop without informing them, who later followed her to her aunt’s residence in Qutbullapur. Three of the accused Rajesh, Rushi Pawan, Kiran abducted her from a kirana shop. They took her to an open land of HMT in Indrasingh Nagar and also invited another accused Ravi Teja. All the three raped her wearing condoms. Later Rajesh invited another accused Ganesh, who brought along Mahi Brahmam, Mahbub and Praveen for committing the crime. Later, they snatched her mobile.

The incident came to light on November 14, when she visited a government hospital in Shapurnagar for a medical check up. The doctor who examined asked her to produce a police report on the incident. After her complaint, the police began investigation and arrested the accused on November 19. The police arrested all the seven accused, while Praveen remains absconding.

A case under section 376 (D) of IPC and under clause 1 and 10 of SC & ST Atrocities Act was registered. (INN)
