Caracas: An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 rattled Yaguaraparo area, located off the northeastern coast of Venezuela, on Tuesday.
The quake, that lasted for a over a minute, resulted in immediate evacuation of all high-rise buildings. However, no tsunami warning was issued post the quake.
Irald Cabrera, a translator for a tour company in Güiria city, was quoted by CNN stating that the earthquake lasted about a minute, and was followed by three aftershocks.
The United States Geological Survey(USGS) said the earthquake had a depth of 123.2 km, and was felt as far away as Caracas.
No casualties have been reported.
