So far, police seized Rs 66.32 crore cash and registered 1,235 cases across the state since the announcement of poll schedule on March 3 for elections to 146 urban local bodies and 10 municipal corporations.
As per the State Election Commission (SEC) guidelines, strict watch has been maintained to rein in movement of cash, gifts, liquor, contraband and other inducements premeditated for influencing voters.
As part of monitoring of election expenditure, 1,023 static surveillance teams (SSFs) 1,046 flying squads (FSs) have been set up besides 64 police checkposts in the state and inter-state borders to ensure adherence of the model code of conduct (MCC).
Police up to now seized Rs 66.32 crore cash, 68 weapons, 1.2 lakh Indian Made Foreign Liquour bottles, 15.294 kg gold and 173.726 kg silver.
Police filed 1,235 cases and bound over 2, 44,101 persons. So far, 15, 766 licensed firearms have been deposited while licenses of 201 arms were cancelled.
Altogether, 341 cases were registered for MCC violation and 1,074 NBWs were executed.
For election bandobust, 53,370 civil and armed reserve police, 130 platoons of APSP and 20 companies of paramilitary forces have been position across the state.
