64th National Awards: ‘Lata: Sur Gatha’ wins Best Book on Cinema, G. Dhananjayan wins Best Film Critic

New Delhi [India]: The winners of the 64th Annual National Awards were announced today at the National Media Centre, in New Delhi.

In the Non-Feature Films category, ‘ Lata: Sur Gatha’ won the award for ‘Best Book on Cinema,’ for encompassing Lata Mageshkar’s life, seven decade career and its impact on Indian cinema, while G. Dhananjayan won the ‘Best Film Critic.’

‘Leeches’ won the award for ‘Best Music,’ while Jishu Sen took home the award for ‘Best Editing’ for ‘Gudh’.

Other than this, ‘Hum Chitra Banate Hai’ won the National Award for ‘Best Animation Film,’ while Lipika Singh Darai’s ‘The Waterfall’ won the ‘Best Educational Film.’

Best Educational Film: The Waterfalls

Best Film on Social Issues: I am Jeeja and Sanath

Best Environment Film Including Agriculture: The Tiger Who Crosses The Line

Best Arts/Culture Film: In the Shadow of Time and The Lord of the Universe

Best Biographical/Historical/Resconstruction: Zikr Us Parivashka : Begum Akhtar

Best Debut Film of a Director: Soz… A Ballad of Maladies, Tushar Madhav

Best Non Feature Film: Fireflies in the Abyss
