A 6.0 magnitude aftershock shakes Tokyo again

Shizuoka, March 15: Still reeling under the aftereffects of a colossal 9.0 magnitude quake that shook the country on March 11, Japan witnessed yet another strong quake late on Tuesday.

The buildings in Japan’s capital were shuddering again, four days after a massive tremor sparked the devastating tsunami that ravaged the country’s northeast coast.

The Japan Meteorological Agency put the magnitude of the quake at 6.0 on the Richter scale, according to public broadcaster NHK. The epicentre was located in Shizuoka, about 120 kilometres (75 miles) southwest of the capital and near Mount Fuji, which is prone to earthquakes.

The quake occured on the shores of Honshu island, 300 km north-east of Tokyo, at a relatively shallow depth of 15.3 km.

There are no reports yet of causalities, injuries or material damage in the region which has already been devastated by the Friday’s 9.0 magnitude earthquake and the gigantically flowing 10 m Tsunami.
