6 suspects arrested in attacks case

Hyderabad, November 12: Hyderabad police have achieved a major breakthrough in their investigations into the communal attacks on members of the minority community in Hyderabad on Tuesday night with the arrest of six activists of Hindu Vahini.

The police are also questioning another right wing organisation, Bajrang Dal.

Senior police officials said a conspiracy to create major communal trouble in Hyderabad was unravelled with the arrests of the activists who admitted their involvement in the series of attacks on Tuesday night which left six people injured.

Those questioned revealed two people, Rajeshwara Rao and Shyam Sundar, were the brains behind the conspiracy hatched to target the minority community members in retaliation of what they called the ‘slaughter of cows’ on the day of Idul Azha in the city and over action by police.

Police have taken Sundar into custody and were still looking for Rajeshwar Rao and others. Special police teams have also been sent to the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra in the search.
