Mahabubnagar: At least six policemen, including officers, were injured in stone-pelting by villagers who were angry over the death of a woman in a road accident near here.
The incident took place at Janampet village last night.
According to Addaakula Police Sub-Inspector K Srinivas, an elderly woman died at Janampet while crossing the road.
Angry over the death, Janampet residents blocked traffic on the road for several hours. When police arrived to clear the traffic, the villagers started pelting stones on them, Srinivas said.
Four officers – a DySP, two Sub-Inspectors and two Constables were injured, he said.
The villagers also damaged police vehicles.
Police today booked 60 villagers in connection with the violence.
