Kabul, September 28: Afghanistan Interior Ministry has announced that six drivers have been killed in an attack in the eastern province of Kunar.
“Enemies of Afghanistan attacked a convoy, set fire on six trucks and killed the drivers in Marawora district on Sunday,” the ministry said in a statement Monday.
All the victims were innocent civilians and another driver was kidnapped by Taliban, the statement added.
Investigations have been launched on the incident by police forces, Xinhua reported.
Violence continues to claim lives in the war-ravaged country eight years after US-led coalitions forces invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of destroying the militancy and arresting insurgent leaders.
No main militant leaders have so far been arrested or killed.
The main victims of the infamous war have been Afghan civilains.
According to latest UN report, over 1,500 civilians were killed in the first six month of this year that shows a 24% increase compared with the same period of last year.
