Hyderabad, November 23: The special drive against signal jumping and stop line violation has registered more than 5,000 cases, realised more than Rs 14 lakh penalty and sent 1,138 violators for counselling in six days. However, the traffic police is far from satisfied.
“Some behaviourial changes have been seen in motorists. But it seems change in the Hyderabadi’s habit of not stopping at the stop line or jumping signals will take some more time,’’ Additional commissioner of police (traffic) CV Anand felt.
The special drive was started on Monday last, as the traffic police felt these violations pose a grave danger to violators apart from road users who follow rules. Police said the special drive would continue also against wrong side driving.
A challan amount of Rs 400 would be imposed against signal jumping, Rs 200 against stop line violation and Rs 400 against wrong side driving.
