6 from City die on way to Shirdi

Hyderabad, March 06: Six persons from the city, including a couple, on their way to Shirdi died in a road accident in Maharashtra early today. Two were injured and their condition is said to be stable.

The bus belonging to Kaleswari Travels left Lakdikapul here last night with 24 passengers.

As the sppeding bus reached a steep curve at Jamkhed in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra around 5:30 am, the driver lost control over the steering, letting the vehicle ram a roadside electric pole and a tree, and then overturn, Jamkhed police inspector Rakh told Express over phone.

The vehicle fell on its left side. Six passengers suffered fatal injuries and died instantaneously while two others suffered injuries. The other passengers managed to escape without any injuries.

Police, who were alerted by passersby, shifted the injured to the civil hospital in Ahmednagar.

All those who died were from Hyderabad.

They were identified as B Indira (58), Srinivas (40) of SR Nagar, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy (24), Harshitha Rajashekar Reddy (5) and an elderly couple, Kumar Bhavani (60) and Geeta Bhavani (55), the inspector said.

The bus driver, Krishna, who took to heels. was arrested. Jamkhed police registered a case under Section 304-A (rash and negligent act) against him.
