Nahan :Six army jawans, who had arrived at Kullahal in Uttarakhand for professional exercise along with their other colleagues, suffered injuries after they were allegedly hit by an SUV on Yamuna Bridge near Paonta Sahib, police said today.
The jawans were hit by a speeding Scorpio when they were standing at the Yamuna Bridge, half of which falls in Uttarakhand and half in Himachal Pradesh, late last night, a police official said.
They were taken to Paonta sub divisional hospital for the treatment, said Ashok Chauhan, station house officer (SHO), Paonta police station.
Two critically injured jawans, Naresh (30) and Tapender (32), were shifted to Dehradun after administering first aid at Paonta, the SHO said.
The other injured jawans were identified as Bhupender (23), Vijay Kumar (20), Gurjeet Singh (21) and Dharmender (20), Chuahan said.
The driver of the jeep fled after the accident, he said, adding a case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC.
