6.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Norwegian Island of Jan Mayen

Jan Mayen [Norway]: An earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitude on the Richter Scale struck Norway’s Jay Mayen Islands in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at 2:08 am (Universal Time Coordinated).

The temblor originated at a depth of 10 km. There are no reports of damage or casualties so far. No tsunami warning has been issued.
