New Delhi: The fifth edition of Jashn E Rekhta will begin from Friday at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. The event aims at celebrating the rich culture and literature.
Rekhta Foundation is organizing the event that will feature art forms like ghazal, Sufi music, qawwali, Dastangoi and poetry recitation. Rekhta Foundation is a trust founded Sanjiv Saraf for the promotion of Urdu.
Times of India as quoted Sanjiv Saraf as saying, ‘in the Indian subcontinent Urdu had enjoyed the patronage of Aristocrats and Kings; today there is a resurgence of the language’.
Over 1 lakh people attended the 5th edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta organised last year, which busted the myth that Urdu is just meant for old generation, because according to organisers at least 70% of the audience were aged between 17 and 35.
Morari Bapu will inaugurate the event on December 14, at 6 pm. Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Vishal Bhardwaj, Javed Jaffrey, Nooran Sisters and others will participate in the event.
Like last year, this year also the Jashn will have 4 stages. The different programmes will be run simultaneously on all the 4 stages.
