581 police stations in Odishatolink with criminal networking system

Altogether 581 police stations along with other district police offices and higher offices in Odisha will be connected through specially developed software called Crime and Criminal Networking System to facilitate and expedite the process of crime tracking.

In total 748 locations in the state will be connected under the system.

The survey of all locations have been completed by BSNL.

While 213 locations will be connected though VSAT, 216 will be connected through BSNL exchange and 319 will be connected through VPN over broadband.

Official sources said all 133 police stations of Naxal infected areas and 80 locations in difficult terrains will also be connected through VSAT.

The police personnel will be imparted intensive training for proper implementation of the project. As many as 45 training centers had been established and 22,201 personnel had been trained so far.

Another 4,322 personnel will be trained.

Reviewing the progress at a high level meeting here yesterday, Chief Secretary B K Pattnaik had advised Police Department to form implementation teams under Inspector In-charge at Police Station Level so that the police personnel know the entire process of operation from the beginning.

District Mission Teams had been formed in all districts under the chairmanship of Superintendent of Police. Deloitte had been allocated to Odisha as State Project Management Unit (SPMU) by Ministry of Home Affairs.

Official sources said the customisation of software is expected to be completed by December of current year. Around 12 services delivered by Police had been proposed to be in public service delivery provisions.

It had further been decided that for fastening service delivery, the police record of last 10 years of the police stations will be digitalised and loaded into the system integrator.

On commissioning of the system, all the basic functions of police station like lodging of FIR, Station Diary, Investigation, Charge Sheet and Case Diary will be on line.

The police stations will also have back up power system. It has been proposed to have solar power back up in 125 police stations and 20 higher offices. The Pilot will be conducted in all 34 Police Districts and 2 Railway Police Stations. The department had been instructed to include both the rural and urban police stations in pilot test. UNI
