Hyderabad: Congress leaders and legal experts belonging to Hyderabad have announced to file more than 5000 Public Interest Litigations (PILs) against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Supreme Court.
Pradesh Congress spokesman Syed Nizamuddin, president Hyderabad City Congress Committee Minority Department Sameer Waliullah and others announced this in a press conference here and said so far 98 PILs have been filed in Supreme Court against the CAA.
They said at least 1 lakh petitions should be filed from across the country against the contentious law, adding that it has been decided to file 5000 petitions from Hyderabad itself.
A legal team has been set up in this regard. Expenses will be borne by Congress leaders and committee of legal experts. Those who want to file PIL can contact on helpline no 9100109111.
Documents for filing public interest litigation can be submitted at 4 centres of Hyderabad. They said NRC is actually the beginning of NRC.
