Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy today said that the farmers in the state will be supplied with green manure for 50 per cent subsidy.
Addressing a workshop for awareness for officials on agricultural activities at Prof Jayashankar Agriculture University here, the minister disclosed that the government will conduct district level awareness camps in the name of “Our Telangana – Our Agriculture program” for the farmers from May 26 to June 5. He exhorted the officials to take massive publicity with complete details to create awareness among the farmers on the 50 per cent of subsidy for the green manure replacing general type of fertilizers.
The minister also called upon the farmers to avoid using regular fertilizers instead use the green manure. The use of green manure will help the farmers reduce cost and get better yield of crops, he exuded confidence. The State Government has allotted Rs 9,176 crore which is 18 per cent in the Budget for agriculture sector he said. Steps are being taken to construct adequate number of storage houses at all districts to help the farmers he said adding that the government will give away rest of the crop loan waiver funds to the farmers in the state. Reddy also said that they will offer premium subsidy to the farmers to avail crop insurance. He also said that Mission Kakatiya, free power, subsidies, loan waiver, godown facility and other such schemes will help the farmers. (NSS)
