Efforts are on to increase the Minority Welfare budget for the next financial year. Government has sought proposals from various departments in connection with the preparation of next year’s budget. The government had allocated a budget of 1130 Cr. for Minority Welfare for current year but sadly not even half of the budget was used.
Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel had proposed increase in minority budget with introduction of some new schemes so that complete budget could be used by implementing those schemes. Finance minister E Rajendra hinted that some new schemes could be sanctioned for minorities in the next financial year. The suggestions given by Secretary Minority Welfare are being reviewed and soon a meeting will again be conducted to finalise the proposals.
Chief Minister has decided to establish 120 residential schools for minority students. 60 English medium residential schools will be established every year. Fund for Shaadi Mubarak scheme is likely to be increased from present 100 Cr to 200 Cr.
