New Delhi:A five-year-old boy died today after a fire broke out at his residence due to an alleged cylinder leak in southeast Delhi’s Tughlaqabad Extension area.
The deceased, identified as Ashu Ali, lived with his parents on the third floor of a four-storey building in Tughlaqabad Extension area.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a leakage in the LPG cylinder while Ali was alone at home, police said.
The incident took place around 1.10 pm today, they said.
A neighbour called up the police control room following which three fire tenders along with an ambulance and several police teams rushed to the spot, the official said.
Ali was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding that the only the medical report can ascertain whether the child was burned to death or died of asphyxia and sustained burns later.
