Hyderabad, Dec 21: Taking serious note of the escape of Congress MP L Rajagopal in Vijayawada from a government hospital despite tight security, the Andhra Pradesh DGP today suspended five police officers for their alleged negligence.
DGP R R Girish Kumar issued orders suspending five police officers, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police with immediate effect.
Kumar has taken the action on the basis of the report submitted by the Vijayawada Police Commissioner Rajendranath Reddy, sources in DGP office said.
The officers placed under suspension are A V Subba Rao, ACP (Central Zone) Vijayawada city, two Inspector of Police K Dharmendra and C H Lakshmipathi, two Sub-Inspectors P Bhaskara Rao and Sri R V S Kamalakar.
The Vijayawada MP walked out last night giving the slip to over 200 policemen deployed around the government hospital.
