5 more CBI courts to be created in AP

Hyderabad, May 21: The Union Government has approved creation of five more Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) courts in Andhra Pradesh in order to clear pending cases. Of the five CBI courts, three courts would be created in Hyderabad and two in Visakhapatnam, CBI Deputy Inspector General of Police V V Lakshmi Narayana said today.

He said the Centre has approved the creation of 71 Additional Courts of Special Judges under the Prevention of Corruption Act throughout the country in order to reduce the pendency of undertrial cases. Regarding pending cases in the court, he said 241 cases in CBI Hyderabad Branch and 164 in Viskhapatnam Branch were pending trial.
