Chennai: A 30 year old women in a drunken state gave away her 5 month old daughter to a man whom she met in Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT). Reportedly, the women had a fight with her husband and left her home. The couple who were living in Virugambakkam vacated their house recently as they were not able to pay the rent and was forced to go to their native place Perambalur. Jyothi, who objected to leaving Chennai, fought with her husband and left home. She reached CMBT, where witnesses saw her crying while cradling her baby.
Police arrested the man Muruganandhan, who spent a night with the woman in a lodge and took away the baby, on the charge of kidnapping, at Thiruverkadu on Sunday. J Muruganandhan of Thiruvottiyur, the accused, who noticed the woman from a distance approached her and lend his ears to her story. He arranged accommodation for her in a lodge.
The duo got drunk. She reportedly told him that she was not able to bring up the child and was willing to abandon her. The man offered to take the baby. At 4 am, she woke up and found the baby missing. Scared of being pulled up by her husband, she lodged a complaint at the Thiruverkadu police station.
