5 killed in different road accidents

In separate cases, five persons, including four pedestrians, were killed in road accidents at different places in the city and its outskirts.

A 48-year-old businessman, T Ananth Reddy, suffered grievous injuries when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Badampet on Wednesday night. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was a resident of Shaheen Nagar near Alkapur, according to Meerpet police.

In another case, 65-year-old G Mutttamma succumbed to the injuries which she suffered after being hit by a lorry near Pillar No 146 in Rajendranagar police limits on January 1. She was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where she died last night.

In a different case, a 24-year-old man died on the spot after he was hit by a jeep while he was crossing the road in Narsingi police limits on Wednesday night. He was later identified as M Balaji, a resident of Hyder Shah Kote huts and native of Gulbarga in Karnataka.

In a similar case, Bedmanthi, 45, died of injuries which she suffered on December 23 after she was hit by a motorcycle near Malakpet Ganj while she was crossing the road. She succumbed at the OGH on Thursday while undergoing treatment, Chaderghat police said. She was a resident of Mohan Nagar and a sweeper with Punjab National Bank.

In another case, Abdul Raoof, 48, of Bholakpur, succumbed to the injuries which he sustained on January 8 after he was hit and run by an unidentified vehicle near his residence. He died at the Gandhi Hospital on Thursday, Musheerabad police said. (INN)
