Barrackpore , January 05: Five people, including a woman, were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in North 24 Parganas and its vicinity during the past 24 hrs.
Police today said three people died on Barrackpore-Sodepur Expressway at Danga Dingla under Ghola police station last night following a collision between an Assam-bound trailor and a Sodepur-bound private vehicle.
The driver of the private vehicle and an occupant died on the spot while another passenger succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The victims were identified as Sujit Shaw, Pradip Shaw and Ashiq Iqbal.
The driver and helper of the trailor fled but police seized the vehicle.
Earlier, one Md Jalaluddin (50) was killed after he was run over by a truck on the state highway Taki Road at Karea-Kadambagachhi under Barasat police station.
In another accident, a middleaged woman vegetable vendor was killed while the driver of the vehicle injured in an accident on Easter Metropolitan Bypass near Parama police investigation centre this morning.
