48-hour Manipur bandh begins, normal life affected

Imphal, August 03: A 48-hours bandh called by Apunba Lup against the fake encounter on July 23 paralysed the normal life.

The Apunba Lup also demanded resignation of the Chief Minister O Ibobi on moral ground with to the July 23 firing incident in crowded market area.

The strike will be applicable on all the schools and education institutions even though essential services like the hospital, fire, water services and religious matter are kept outside the purview of the strike.

A pregnant woman and alleged militant were killed by the state police on July 23.

Meanwhile, DGP has ordered magisterial probe into the matter but opposition demanded resignation of the Chief Minister.

The Apunba Lup said there is no need of any kind of judicial or magisterial probe now after the Tehelka expose into the encounter.
