A 48-hour hunger strike launched by the CPI demanding setting up of a steel plant at Bayyaram ended this evening.
CPI floor leader in the Assembly G. Mallesh, who was the chief guest, said that their agitation would continue till a steel plant was set up at Bayyaram.
Kothagudem MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao, Wyra MLA Chandravathi, CPI senior leader Puvvada Nageshwara Rao, TV Chowdhary, Siddhi Venkateshwarlu, CPI-M district secretary Bagam Hemantha Rao, Singareni Collieries Workers’ Union president Vasireddy Seetharamaiah and others were present.
CPI-ML New Democracy district secretary visited the hunger strike camp and expressed his solidarity. (NSS)
