Dhaka- A Hindu priest was been hacked to death at his temple in Bangladesh, southwestern district of Jhenaidah early Friday said the police and senior administrative officials.
Shaymanonda Das was preparing for morning prayers at a temple where three men on a motorcycle hacked him on the neck several times with machetes.
Jhenaidah police station officer-in-charge Hasan Hazijur Rahman said. “Shymanondo was collecting flowers for worship when three assailants riding on a motorcycle attacked him with a machete.”
It is the latest of dozens of brutal attacks in Bangladesh. Despite of nationwide crackdown by the Bangladeshi government, including the arrest of more than 14,000 people.
There have been systematic assaults in Bangladesh in recent months specially targeting minorities, secular bloggers, intellectuals and foreigners.
The ISIS and al-Qaeda in Indian Peninsula have claimed responsibility for some of the attacks although the government denies their presence in Bangladesh.
