Announced results of special counseling shows, still 24 engineering colleges have registered zero admissions in T state.
During first phase of counseling there was one Engg College in T state and nine colleges in AP registered with zero students. However the result is worst in T state after the final phase of counseling.
Despite the Telangana government cancelling approvals of over 170 engineering colleges, which failed to meet norms on faculty and infrastructure facilities, resulting in deletion of nearly one lakh seats, it failed to fill up all seats in Telangana colleges. Of the 1,16,913 seats on offer in AP in 326 colleges, only 62,917 were filled while out of 65,157 seats in 149 colleges in TS, 52,709 were filled.
According to admission authorities, in state of Telangana, the qualified 149 engineering colleges have 66,000 seats and only 52,800 students registered, and admission in 80% of Engg colleges are Unsatisfactory.
Prof. Pappi Readdy Chairman of T state council of higher education said that 3,115 students given admission int 135 colleges, it remain to be seen finally how many students join the colleges.
Experts say that poor admissions are the results of more colleges than demand.
