Hyderabad: As many as 41 bike-riders and an organiser of a motorsport event were taken into custody today by the Cyberabad Police for allegedly conducting a bike rally on the city outskirts without obtaining requisite permission.
Manchal police under Cyberabad East Commissionerate stopped a bike rally that was being conducted without obtaining permission from police, which is mandatory, a senior police officer said.
“They were driving with high speed resulting in stones on the road getting hurled in the air. They were conducting this event without taking proper precautions on the road between Muknoor and Thippaiguda villages and villagers, who were scared complained to the local police,” said P Narayana, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ibrahimpatnam division).
According to the villagers, they also tried to stop the organiser, identified as Mazdayar, from holding the event, but they sped away.
A case was registered against Mazdayar under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC and section 189 (racing and trials of speed) of the Motor Vehicles Act, for not taking permission, the officer said.
“41 bike-riders and the organiser of the event were taken into custody and inquired into. They were later let off,” the ACP told PTI.
Further probe is underway, he added.
