400 yr. old hot bath at Masjid Mian Mashak

Hyderabad, January 15: When Hazrat Mian Mashak had built mosque near Puranapul, he had also built a ‘hot bath’ in it. Patients suffering from paralysis and laqva were successfully treated in the hot bath. Mian Mashak was a virtuous and righteous person he had built the hot bath as part of his welfare activities.

He also built a splendid guest house comprising of 35 rooms and an Arabic madarsa for Muslim girls. He also constructed nearly 80 shops around the mosque.

The hot bath was actually a very beautiful houz made of marble. The hot water was released by the sides of the houz and the patients were made to sit in the middle of the houz and then their treatment was started.

Historians say that the hot bath of Mian Mashak mosque was the first of its kind in India. The sun bath and steam bath which are prevalent in gyms today is a small form of hot bath.
