Khatima (Uttarakhand), April 25: Over 40 people were taken ill after eating “contaminated” food from a street hawker at a village near here, doctors said today.
They said the people, belonging Katura village in Udham Singh Nagar district, began vomitting last night after eating ‘golgappe’ (water balls) and ‘tikki’ (fried snacks) from a hawker.
They were rushed to nearby hospitals. Most of them have been discharged and the condition of others was stated to be stable.
Police have launched a manhunt to track down the hawker who sold the contaminated eatables to the villagers.
