Hyderabad, February 12: In order to encourage and aid rural girl students in the Telangana region, the managing committee of the All India Industrial Exhibition (AIIE) should organise more revenue-generating events and divert the proceeds to educational institutions, Governor ESL Narasimhan has said.
Narasimhan was the chief guest at the valedictory of the 70th All India Industrial Exhibition at the Gandhi Centenary Hall on the Exhibition Grounds on Thursday.
The management of the AIIE should generate more funds to develop the educational institutions being run by it, he said.
He lauded the committee for ensuring the smooth conduct of the annual event.
Exhibition Society president and MLA K Jana Reddy said the society would plan more events in the near future.
Society secretary Dr P Chandra Sekhar Reddy said about 40 lakh people visited the exhibition which had 2,500 stalls showcasing products from various places in the country.
About Rs 4 crore generated from the event would be spent on the Exhibition Society’s educational institutions.
Later, the Governor distributed awards to meritorious students of the Society aidededucational institutions and to stalls owners who displayed innovative and useful products.
