Mumbai: Body of a four-year-old girl, who was allegedly rape and murdered by unidentified persons, has been found from Tunga village near suburban Powai here, police said.
The minor’s body was today spotted by some locals near MTNL office in Tunga, they said.
“The girl went missing on March 6 at around 10.30 PM from outside her house in in Tunga village. Her parents had lodged a missing person’s complaint with Powai police, after which a search was launched,” a senior police officer said.
The officer also confirmed that the minor was raped and murdered before her body was dumped.
A case has been registered under relevant IPC sections for kidnapping and murder and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the unknown person(s).
This is the third incident of rape and murder of a 4-year-old girl in the last few weeks.
On Monday, the city police had found the body of a four-year-old girl, who was raped and murdered, near Mankhurd in eastern suburbs. The minor had got separated from her mother near Mankhurd railway station due to Sunday rush at around 10.30 PM.
Talking about the Mankhurd case, a senior police officer said, “We have got some leads in the Mankhurd case and it would soon be cracked.”
