4-year-old dies in road mishap

Hyderabad, August 25: Four-year-old Bhavya alias Pinky was very fond of her newly-born brother Bunny. For the past few days, she had been particular that she would tie the first rakhi on the wrist of four-month-old Bunny. But destiny had other ideas. Even as she was on her way to tie the rakhi, she was crushed under the wheels of a DCM van at Uppal.

Mohanachary, grandfather of Pinky was moving vigorously in Gandhi Hospital with a grim face . Mohanachary told Expresso that Pinky had gone to her uncle Srikanthachary’s house in Boduppal on Monday. “ She had gone to her uncle’s house for a visit. Srikanthachary would have brought her back to home in Amberpet on Tuesday. They both started their journey on the two-wheeler on Tuesday morning. After reaching Uppal, a DCM van coming from the wrong direction hit the vehicle and Pinky died on the spot,” Mohanachary said.

Rajesh, her father, who was a video editor by profession, was earlier busy making all preparations for rakhi at home. He bought gifts including a watch, sweets and other gifts for Pinky, on behalf of her toddler brother Bunny. However, all joy left the household as Rajesh got an unexpected telephone call from the police. The festive mood in the house turned into mourning.

“Besides Pinky, I have three grand-daughters. She was a very bright child and was doing very good at school. We all had high hopes on her but she has left us suddenly. Besides, she was very courteous towards elders,” Mohanachary said, tears rolling down his cheeks. Srikanthachary, who suffered multiple injuries, was shifted first to the Gandhi Hospital and later to a private hospital. Family members said his condition was serious.
