Hyderabad, February 09: A 4-year-old boy, who was kidnapped for ransom, was rescued within 14 hours by the police in a `daring operation’ today. Three persons, including a distant relative of the boy, were arrested.
The boy, Mohd Noorullah Khan alias Tarfeen, was abducted this morning around 8:35 am when he was standing outside his residence at Qazipura in Shalibanda police limits. Noorullah, an LKG student of nearby Crown International School, was waiting for his father to drop him off at the school when two bike-riding miscreants abducted him.
Noorullah’s father, Hamid Khan, drops off his son and daughter at the school everyday on his scooter.
Hamid Khan is in gold business at Khilwath.
Soon after the kidnap the family received a call demanding Rs 10 lakh. The abductors also set a deadline of 10 hours to hand over the money and threatened to kill the child if their demand was not met.
Not divulging much about how the boy was rescued, City Police Commissioner AK Khan said the boy was rescued by teams of South Zone police and Task Force sleuths.
“One of the accused, Syed Rasheed of Hasan Nagar, is a distant cousin of Hamid Khan. He was aware that Hamid Khan would be getting Rs 15 lakh in a land deal tomorrow. As Noorullah was the only son of Hamid Khan, they thought that the father would accede to their demand and planned the kidnap,’’ Khan told reporters late in the night.
Rasheed took the help of his associates, Mohd Fahim of Hasan Nagar and Rajesh Varma of Madhya Pradesh to execute the kidnap.
Sources said the accused were nabbed at Shamshabad and the two-wheeler and mobile phones used in the offence were seized.
Earlier in the day, the broad daylight kidnap shook the city police as well as general public. Chief Minister K Rosaiah reportedly asked the city police to crack the case and Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy monitored the progress of the rescue operation.
The police commissioner thanked the media for not publicising the kidnap, thus helping the police crack the case successfully.
