Hyderabad, May 18: Four officials of the district treasury and sub-treasury office in Guntur district were convicted by a court in a cheating case that took place in 2001. According to Crime Investigation Department (CID) additional director-general of police S V Ramana Murthy, three persons from Bihar colluded with the officials of the District Treasury and Sub-Treasury in Guntur.
They prepared fake pension payment orders on fictitious names of military pensioners and drew Rs 4.63 lakh from the sub-treasury office by forging their signatures.
A case was registered at Arundalpet police station of Guntur on April 17, 2001 after a complaint filed by the then deputy director, district treasury which was later transferred to the CID.
During the course of investigation, the CID sleuths arrested the main accused Parishnath Singh. The court convicted all the four and sentenced one-year rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1,000.
