4 Suri murder suspects held, Bhanu remains free

Hyderabad, January 30: The Hyderabad police on Saturday paraded four men who allegedly had a hand in the murder of Anantapur factionist Maddelacheruvu Suri but said the main suspect, Mallishetty Bhanu Kiran, was still on the lam. Also, police chief A K Khan said the motive behind the murder continued to elude his detectives.

Almost a month after Suri was shot dead in the heart of the city, investigators have only managed to gather information on 100 benami properties allegedly acquired by Suri. These properties have now been frozen.

Khan’s speculation of the motive ran the whole gamut: “The motive may be a property dispute, a quarrel over lands acquired on benami names including some on Bhanu’s name or maybe due to personal differences over supremacy or it could be due to any other reason, which even the men we arrested today do not know.”
