Nashik, June 23: Four school children, including two girls, were killed and eight others injured when an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling collided with a jeep, coming from the opposite direction, near Jaykheda village on the Satana-Jaykheda road in Satana tehsil today.
According to police, the autorickshaw was on its way to a school at Tahrabad, when the mishap took place this morning.
The deceased were identified as Nitu Rajendra Deore (9), Tanishq Sampat Deore (5), Lalit Anil Deore (6) and Priyanka Anil Deore (10).
All students were residents of Nitane village in Satana tehsil.
The injured have been admitted to the civil hospital, police said.
After the incident, an enraged mob gathered at the spot and set ablaze the jeep.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The jeep driver has been arrested, police said.
