Hyderabad/ Sangareddy, March 06: Alleged financial problems, fear of examinations and health reasons drove four students to end their lives in the city and neighbouring Medak district on Friday.
In Patancheru of Medak district, a first year engineering student committed suicide allegedly unable to bear the pressure from his college management to pay the fees before the examinations.
According to police, K Shankar Reddy (19), was a first year ECE student of TRR Engineering college at Inol village in Patancheru mandal.
At the time of admission, he was asked to pay Rs.50,000 to get a seat under the management quota. Shankar Reddy’s father Venkat Reddy paid Rs.40,000 to a middleman, who cheated him by not paying the money to the college.
Even then, Venkat Reddy managed to Rs.15,000 and got a seat for his son. With the examinations nearing, the college management asked Shankar to pay the remaining amount. But Shankar’s father expressed his inability to give him the required money.
As the pressure mounted on him, Shankar Reddy consumed pesticide in his room yesterday night. Alerted by other students, the college management shifted him to a private hospital at Chandanagar and later to the Gandhi hospital but he died mid-way.
Activists of TRSV demonstrated in front of the college protesting the harassment by the management.
In a similar incident, N Swapna (21), a B Sc third year student of SP College, Padmarao Nagar committed suicide allegedly due to financial problems which were likely to create a problem in her academics. Her body was found on the railway tracks between Medchal and Dabilpur railway stations in the early hours today. POlice identified her with the help of the mobile phone on her.

The incident took place in Phase-VII of Kukatpally Housing Board Colony today.
B Radhika (16) was a student of Daffodils Public School and was the daughter of Ram Babu, a businessman.
Around 10 p.m yesterday, Radhika had her dinner and went inside her room telling her parents that she would be studying for her examinations.
As she did not come out till late night, Ram Babu grew suspicious and around 1 a.m. knocked on his daughter’s room.
As she did not open the door, he broke it open and found his daughter hanging from the ceiling fan with a ‘dupatta’.
