Hyderabad, March 09: Cyberabad police on Monday arrested four property offenders involved in theft of laptops, chain snatching and house burglaries and recovered gold ornaments, laptops and other valuables worth more than `25 lakh from them.
Police nabbed two members of a four-member gang who were involved in stealing laptops from private firms in the guise of salesmen. According to police, the four persons used to enter the companies as salesmen selling room fresheners. As one of them convinced the office-in-charge to try out the fresheners in the bathroom, the others would steal laptops from the office.
Police arrested Mohd Muzzafar alias Mujju and Shaik Rafeeq, both from Rajendranagar, and recovered 22 laptops worth `8.80 lakh from them. Another member of the gang Md Khader, was arrested earlier while the accused Sk Ibrahim is absconding.
Meanwhile, a woman, K Uma Kiran alias Savita of Mallepally, was arrested for snatchings and 13 tola gold ornaments worth `2.60 lakh were recovered from her. Kiran used to board buses which are filled with passengers and steal gold ornaments and purses of women passengers. Kiran was also arrested earlier by the police.
In another case, a habitual property offender, D Ram Prasad of Lingampally in Medak was arrested and 70.3 tola gold ornaments worth `14.06 lakh recovered from him. Ram Prasad, who was released from prison in January, committed eight burglaries in the city since his release, police said.
