4 percent Muslim reservation period ends next month

Hyderabad, April 20: The period of 4 percent reservations for Muslims will end on May 31 2011. Minority Welfare Minister Mr. Mohammad Ahmed Ullah met chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and called his attention towards it, mentioning the weak economic and educational status of Muslims and urged to extend the period for atleast further 10 years.

He also sent a letter to Baswaraju Saraiah Minister for Backward Classes Welfare in this regard.

Mr. Baswaraj Saraiah informed Mr. Mohammad Ahmed Ullah that the Backward classes welfare department is mulling over the extension of reservation period and necessary proposals have already been issued by the BC commission in this connection.

He hoped that after chief minister’s approval the matter will be presented in the next cabinet meeting. After cabinet approval Muslims will continue benefiting from the reservations.
