Hyderabad is the city of mosques and minarets which has innumerable mosques in and around it. Lakhs acres of wakf land are associated with these mosques. The managing committees of these mosques are not aware of the wakf lands attached to these mosques. On visiting some famous and beautiful mosques of Architectural importance, it was very surprising to know that the people do not know about the wakf lands attached to these mosques. It is the duty of the wakf committees to inform the people about the wakf lands.
On conducting the survey of 50 famous mosques, it was revealed that 4, 65, 064 sq. yards of lands which accounts for 960876 acres have been registered under wakf. The largest wakf land is that of historical Toli Masjid situated at Karwan. According to the wakf records, 134280 sq. yards of land has been registered under this mosque. From Architectural point of view Toli Masjid has no parallel in the city. The rulers, the nobles and the philanthropists donated these lands with good intentions. Allah(SWT) will certainly compensate them. A.P. Wakf Board should take immediate action to restore these wakf lands from the clutches of the land grabbers.
